Position Overview

BayCare Health System is seeking an experienced and visionary Neurology Residency Program Director to lead the establishment and management of a new Neurology Residency at St. Anthony's Hospital in beautiful downtown St Petersburg, Florida. The Program Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the residency program to ensure it meets the highest standards of excellence in education, clinical training, and research. This is a unique opportunity to shape a program that will advance the field of Neurology and train the next generation of specialists, while working closely with the leadership of the BayCare Neuroscience Clinical Institute. This opportunity provides a split of 0.6 Program Director FTE and 0.4 clinical FTE. We are affiliated with Northwestern Medicine. Academic rank is available to program directors upon successful submission of the application.

 

The residency will also be hiring a full FTE program manager to support and oversee ACGME requirements.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum and evaluation, develop and continuously improve a comprehensive curriculum and evaluation system to monitor the progress of residents through the program.
  • The learning environment within the program.
  • Program management in conjunction with the manager (i.e., program evaluation and improvement, communications, accreditation as applicable, program resources).
  • Resident well-being.
  • Oversight of scholarly activities.
  • Accreditation and institutional governance participation.

Clinical Practice:

  • Participate in an excellent group practice within BayCare Medical Group Neurology seeing patients with neurological conditions as would be applicable.
  • Opportunities and support for clinical trials and clinical research.
  • Opportunities to develop subspecialty or focused practice interests within the health system.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience in an academic setting for 3-5 years minimum
  • Previous experience as a Program Director or Associate Program Director in an ACGME-accredited program is preferred
  • Board Certification with American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • Neurologists with subspecialty training are welcome
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills
