This role requires a dynamic, collaborative pediatric physician leader to guide multi‑site pediatric services across the BayCare Health System.

Working closely with clinical, administrative, and operational stakeholders, the successful candidate will partner with the pediatric administrative dyad leader to align clinical operations with organizational strategic priorities—focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, access, and exceptional patient and family experiences.  Additionally, the Medical Director will be a key leader in developing integrated pediatric programs, collaborating with non‑pediatric specialties, BayCare System leaders, and community partners.  This includes promoting a culture of inclusivity, teamwork, and continuous improvement while supporting future pediatric leader development. The individual will also champion pediatric education, clinical research, and mentorship of emerging pediatric clinicians, contributing to excellence across the health system.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Operational Leadership

  • Partner with Team Resources (TR) and relevant departments to support retention and engagement.

Strategic Program Development and Partnership

  • Foster integration of pediatric services across care sites, ensuring seamless and family‑centered experiences.
  • Cultivate partnerships with community pediatricians, regional health systems, and specialty partners.
  • Contribute to pediatric strategic planning aligned with the organization’s mission and long‑term growth.

Safety and Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with all pediatric regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Lead development and monitoring of safety protocols that support a culture of zero harm for children.
  • Oversee pediatric risk management and quality assurance processes, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with infection prevention, quality, and compliance teams to address issues proactively.

Collaboration with Leadership Teams

  • Serve as the liaison between pediatric providers and other clinical and administrative departments.
  • Actively participate in system leadership meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives.
  • Promote open, transparent communication within and between pediatric teams.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and HR partners to support resource optimization.

Education and Research

  • Support and advocate for pediatric graduate medical education, ensuring trainees are integrated effectively.
  • Foster a culture of pediatric research and inquiry, encouraging participation in relevant clinical studies.
